Questions people ask before they start
Is this an actual spoken conversation, or am I typing at a bot?
You talk out loud and the other side answers out loud, in real time. It is software, not a person, and it will say so if you ask — but it stays in character under pressure, which is the whole point: you get to be interrupted, doubted and needled by someone who will do it again on request.
Who hears my voice, and what happens to the recording?
Nobody on our side hears it. Your microphone connects straight from your browser to OpenAI, the US company whose model gives Frankie its voice — the audio never touches our servers, OpenAI receives your IP address with it, and OpenAI's own terms apply there. What stays with us is the written transcript, on servers in Frankfurt, and it is deleted automatically 30 days after the session ends. Under Account & privacy you can export everything we hold, or delete your account and everything in it, yourself: no email, no waiting.
What does it cost, and can I cancel?
12 € a month or 120 € a year, and yes — any time, in the Stripe customer portal, without contacting us. A card starts the 3 free days: cancel inside them and nothing is charged. Cancel later and access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. During the trial you can work up to five scenarios a day; a subscription lifts that limit. One scenario is free before any of it, with no card. One thing worth knowing up front: the free days are granted once per programme. Cancel and come back later, and the new subscription is charged straight away.
What if I am not quick, or not funny?
Almost nobody is, in the moment — that is the actual problem, and it is trainable. Much of what works here is not wit at all: buying yourself a beat, answering the question under the question, saying the flat honest thing so the room can move on. Frankie will tell you when the funny answer was the wrong tool. You can stop mid-scene, say “again”, and replay the same jab until your answer sounds like you meant it. Nobody is watching.
What if what I am dealing with is not banter?
Then this is the wrong tool, and it will say so. Repartee practises composure when a room turns on you: the hostile question, the jab, criticism delivered with an audience. It does not train comebacks to harassment, discrimination or bullying — a good line is not the answer to those, and treating it as one leaves you carrying something that was never yours to carry. That belongs with a manager, a works council, HR or a lawyer, and one of the tracks here is about telling the difference.
